Finley and a puzzle

Just when I thought he wasn't interested in doing a puzzle, Finley gets 5 pieces together correctly.  As soon as I notice, he tears it apart.  my boys are so incredibly different.  At least I know now that Finley is capable of doing a puzzle.  What a stinker!

Dear Santa...

Dear Santa,

Thank you for the sucker and the sticker book. I liked seeing you today. You are really nice. I am proud in my heart. I am almost 4 years old. I would like to have a new video game and another numchuck for the Wii. I have been a good boy this year...sometimes. Thank you for visiting my house.

Sincerely,
Oliver Alban

Dear Santa,

You were a bit scary the other day and I needed a nap. Sorry I cried so much. You weren't so bad today. I like suckers and books.

Sincerely,
Finley Alban

The Amazing Oliver

Yesterday morning, Oliver picked his own clothes out to wear and came running to me proud of his accomplishment. I keep his pants separated from his shirts, so it might not always be the best combination that would be chosen by an almost 4 year old. However, Oliver chose his Batman longsleeve shirt and a pair of greyish kahki pants that matched the shirt perfectly! I don't even think I would have come up with that combination! "Mommy, look!", he said excitedly. I said, "Oliver, that is great! You did such a good job! Do you think you can turn your shirt around so that Batman is facing the front?"

During Finley's nap, Oliver decided to build a train track out of his Geotrax. Normally he plays the wii and I sew in the room next to him. Well, I was surprised when I heard the clacks of the plastic track being handled instead of the dramatic score of Lego Batman on the wii. "Oliver! Are you playing with your train track?", I asked. He replied, "I'm making a track for Finley when he wakes up." What a sweet big bub bub!

The Simple Pleasures of Fall

Oliver and Finley love to play outside. Especially when it involves raking up a big pile of leaves for them to jump in. Yesterday the temperature was perfect and I took advantage of the weather by getting the boys outside. Good times were had by the Alban boys on that warm fall day! They took turns grabbing up a handful of leaves and throwing them in the air, but soon realized that it was more fun to throw the leaves in each others faces. Neither child was harmed in the process. And whether they were throwing or receiving, they had fun! Oliver had some height on his first jump. I'm glad that I was able to build him a large enough pile that it did not hurt his knees. His second jump was a belly flop. Finley didn't do a grand jump. He waddled over to the pile and just fell in. Afterwards, they helped me rake and bag up leaves. My boys are such good helpers.

Christmas Shopping!

Today I got the day out without the boys to do some Christmas shopping. Daddy (Eli) stayed home and entertained Oli and Fin. Or rather, they entertained him! I shopped 'til I dropped...$600 that is. I could have done more damage, but Eli texted me to put the plastic away and come home.

Trains, CDs, DS games, clothes and books, oh my! I'm so excited for Christmas! I spent a good part of the evening going through Oliver's room to see what toys I might be able to get rid of. I'd put something in the trash pile and Fin would find a new use for it. When I thought I was finished and his room looked good, I found all of the toys I thought I was getting rid of spread out all over the living room. I guess Finley's a bit of a pack rat like his mama. Oli could care less as long as he gets to play the Wii. I was pleased that Oliver had taken a break from the Wii to play with toys he hadn't touched in months! He and Finley are going to have a blast this Christmas!

Welcome to My Blog!

The boys are so big! It's about time that I start writing about them! I'm so afraid I will forget something. I've been looking back at old pictures of Oliver when he was Finley's age and all the cute things he use to do. Finley is a completely different creature! I love them both for their differences and I love their similarities.

Oliver is going to be 4 next month! I can't believe it! He's a total video gamer right now! When he was Finley's age, he was a puzzle fanatic! He has always been good at focusing and using his hands. He's brilliant! He never liked singing, yet he is a great communicator. I have high expectations for him. But I'll still love him if he still aspires to drive a dump truck when he's 20. Although...I asked him while writing this what he wanted to be when he grew up. He looked up from his Lego Batman Wii game and said, "umm, a giant, silly!" Moms are always the last to know!

Finley is just now 18 months. He's huge! 90th percentile for height and 94th for weight for his age! A linebacker in the making? I feel he will be a bit more athletic than his brother. He's a singer and he has a sweet little voice. He has found a love of reading here recently and a love of destroying puzzles. He wants so badly to play video games with his brother. Currently he loves Spongebob Squarepants, trains and trucks! He's more sensitive and shy than his brother. He's a tough cookie with a heart.
